Hello,

I can't build the Android File System using the repo manifest contained in ti-processor-sdk-android-am57xx-evm-06.00.00.07/board-support/aosp-9.0 or with the repo manifest offered on the Android download page.

Looking through the am57xx manifest files, it appears that there is no "device" sources for the am57xx being pulled in. Are the manifest files or the "Building the SDK" guide incorrect?

TMS320C6678: SRIO output retried error

Hello SRIO experts,

(a bit of background : we are a team quite experienced with SRIO on C6678, having implemented it and debugged it for around 5 years, we know how to manage doorbell retries, restart transactions etc.)

Today on a running system at the lab, we have a strange issue

Most of the time the system is running perfectly.

Under very specific conditions the system blocks.
Analysis shows that a SRIO transaction with doorbell didn't work : the data was not written, the doorbell not sent

Using the TI GEL file that is very helpful to debug SRIO conditions, we looked at the initiator of the transaction

The port error status of the port 0 has the following value : 0x180002
Meaning port ok, output retry encountered, output retried

It's the first time we encounter "Output retried" (bit 19)
the doc says "Output port has received a packet-retry control symbol and can not make forward
progress. This bit is set when bit 18 is set and is cleared when a packet-accepted or a
packet-not-accepted control symbol is received (read-only)."

Bit 18 is "Output retry-stopped".
According to the doc (and to the SRIO spec) it should be set along with bit 19. --> this is strange and not conform to the spec

Anyway does anyone why such an error can occur ? and how to recover from it ?

PROCESSOR-SDK-AM65X: LCD configuration in Android

Hello,

I am working on trying to port the latest (v06.00) Android SDK to our AM65x-based platform. Right now, I have Android booting successfully but some of the interface elements are being drawn incorrectly and I am having difficulty figuring out exactly where the configuration that governs this type of thing resides. When comparing our design to the AM65x EVM, we're using an 800x480 display while the EVM is using a 1280x800 display.

Problems:
The EVM shows a "Tablet is starting..." screen as an intermediary between the Android logo boot screen and the usable UI. We don't see this screen when we boot. The EVM has its navigation bar oriented along the bottom of the screen, while ours is oriented along the right edge of the screen and all of the buttons are superimposed upon one another. The EVM has a clean, dark themed Google search bar at the top of its screen, ours has an out-of-date silver/white theme.

Of the above problems, only the issue with the navigation bar is truly worrisome, but all three problems considered together indicates that something related to the display is being misconfigured. Our device configuration is nearly identical to TI's AM65x device configuration. The overlay directory tree is exactly the same. Our device is configured with TARGET_BOARD_PLATFORM set to "am65x" so the contents of hardware/ti/am65x are being used and vendor/ti/am65x/am65x.mk is being included.

Any advice on how to configure Android to properly use this LCD would be greatly appreciated.

AM5728: GStreamer pipeline issue

I'm trying to get a streaming application going, streaming from an AM5728 EVM to a browser page.  I would like to do the compression using one of the ducati compression implementations, e.g. ducatih264enc.  I can't make this work.

I have been able to make this work using theora, e.g.:

gst-launch-1.0 -v videotestsrc ! theoraenc ! oggmux  ! tcpserversink host="192.168.1.8" port=5000

This however does the encoding in the main micro, not the DSP, so performance-wise it doesn't handle actual video from a camera.

Can anyone provide an example pipeline that uses one of the ducati compression implementations, that provides a video stream viewable in a webpage?

DM3730: TPS65950 codic audio output has noise occasionally

We meet a sound problem on LogicPD's SOM DM3730 with CODEC TPS65950.  It has a sound bug during pilot test: our device sound outpu becomes abnormal occasionally. Noise will not automatically dissapear until tune off the power. If you repeatedly turn on and off the power about 1/30 chance the abnormal noise will come again. 

We cut off the back stage and tested the TPS65950 output wave form when device play a 500Hz sine sound file.

 While the normal wave on other device is bellowing, no high frequency noise.

Then we use logic analyzer sampled the I2S data in TP2 and found when sound abnormal , data is ok!

We collecected the audio wave and do FFT in Matlab to find the noise freq is about 7KHz

Also we can compare the normal one, no 7K componets:

In order to locate the problem, we have tried 2 changes by software modification. one is change the audio sorce sample rate from 8K to 16K. Thenthe occasion sound abnormal became always abnormal.  We assume there may be some registers configure wrong. But we check it is by read back all the regs value it is the same with another normal device.

Another try is add a manually reset button to reconfigure all the regs when sound abnormal. And it works. 

Now I am woundering what cause the 7K occasional noise. And what solusion to prevent the abnormal happen since we can't put an extra reset button in our system. So please help and analysis this case, Thank you!

 

66AK2H12: Issue of K2H DDR DQS signal range.

Customer use 66AK A and B EMIF all used 5 pcs DDR chip.

But it can't pass the SI test because the DQS signal range from +750mV~-1V like below. 

As I know the voltage range positive and negative symmetry. Could you please help to identify the reason? or Can I set the register to adjust it?  Here is the ddr setting.  (Please visit the site to view this file)thanks!

Our application board(installed 66ak2g12) use pciess for transfer data between PC system and DSP.

On most pc systems. there is no problem. board is controlled under windows OS via PCI express interface.

On some pc system, link training sequence is failed.

TMS320C6655: C6655 with NDK package too big send interval

  We is used in application TMS320C6655 network interface, when use TI provides the NDK package, encounter problems, needs in interval between two send package more than 3-4 ms to normal to send, interval with sleep function implementation, if the interval is lower than 3 ms software program will run to fly, freezes, operation is not normal, but the interval for application is too big, need around 100-200 us, please help to analysis what is the cause of this?Or does the NDK software routine need to be applied in this way?Thank you very much!

AM65x is IO coherent with A53 caches, so traffic from any peripheral into MSMC SRAM and DDR is kept coherent with A53 caches.

Yes as long as the data is in MSMC SRAM or DDR. PCIe read will snoop the most recent data as long as the memory page/region is marked outer shared and cacheable in MMU and NBSS registers.

 

Do you have some code examples of GPMC or PCIe with DMA, which customer can confirm cache coherency ? If possible, TI-RTOS is preferred, but Linux is OK as well.

Since data transaction between memory and peripheral with keeping cache coherency is important for them, they want to evaluate its performance on EVM.

 

DMA (Data Movement Architecture) on AM65x looks excellent. Do you have any deep dive or training materials for NAVSS, UDMA, UTC, DRA, etc … with more illustrations ?

[TDA4M] memory map & EMIF Tool

Hi

I have two questions.

I am preparing for a TDA4M bringup. We use RTOS and Linux. We probably to prepare two OS version(RTOS and RTOS-Linux)

First, I can't find the location of the memory map source. In TDA2, we modified the *.xs files in the following location

vision_sdk/apps/build/tda2px/mem_segment_definition_bios.xs --> RTOS

vision_sdk/apps/build/tda2px/mem_segment_definition_linux.xs --> Linux

Please provide the location of the same file as the *.xs files in the TDA4 source.
Second, I want to get the EMIF TOOL of TDA4.(DDR)
We are designing a customer board.
So, I want to receive the TDA4 EMIF tool. I wonder if in the future provide guidance that is provided When will be.

66AK2H12: Regarding DSP L2 cache register (MAR)

The following document mentioned

TMS320C66x DSP CorePac User Guide. 4.5 Memory Attribute Register (MARn) Definition defined Bit 2-1(PCX and WTE) as Reserved

Also, we recognized these bit ( Bit 2(PCX)or 1(WTE)) value difference affect to active time. So, it affect some device function.  

And also current MARn default value is Bit2 (PCX) = '1'. Bit1 (WTE) ='0'.

【Question ①】

Could you please tell us correct value for MAR setting ?

If we would like to enable MAR effectively , do we have to set  '1' for Bit 0 (PC) and Bit 3 (PFX) it mean 0x9 ?

As our experience, 0x09 setting is very fast , 0xD or 0xF is very slow.

Accourding to TMS320C66x DSP CorePac User GuideのTable 4-22 , this Bit 0(PC) initial value =0.

However, when we confirm debugger memory view MAR register , this MAR register for Bit0 (PC) is 1 or 0 on the setMar().

Also, according this URL TMS320C66x DSP CorePac User Guide show opposite opinion.

Could you please answer this correct value  between TMS320C66x DSP CorePac User Guide and above link consistency and consider Bit2 and Bit 1 affection  ?

But here i am confused about where to find the files which needs to be changed. I want to modify the bbb-4dcape70t.dtb from ROOT/boot/   to add SPI.

So where to find the bbb-4dcape70t.dts file which i can modify??

Where to find the file to set "CONFIG_SPI_SPIDEV=y"??

Do i need to change my kernal-recipe?? If yes where to find .bbappend file (linux-ti-staging-4.4.bbappend)??

If there are any other changes I need to do add SPI please suggest.

Hi, I have a problem with  TMDSCSK8127

I working with TMS320DM8127 Camera Starter Kit  according  to TMDSCSK8127 Quick Start Guide (Literature Number: SPRUID6)

and when I run system from SD card the following happens:

-u-boot is running

-Kernel is running

-filesystem, arago project is running

-and then, after 15 seconds after start booting,the system just restarts and starts working again  from running u-boot

-it all repeats

As a result, I can’t run the demo project, I can’t understand what can be done with this
