OMAPL138 workaround for known issue: SPIDAT0 is only able to handle max 16 bit

Hi,

I know that the SPI interface on my OMAPL138 isn't able to transfer 24 Bit at once. I have to split this to a 8 Bit an 16 Bit word an submit them seperatly and holing the /CS for both transmits low. But to split the 24 bits and submit the shorter words seperately to the SPIDAT0 register takes time and is in my application a critical part.

what will happen when i use the EDMA to transfer datas to the SPI. Is it possible to have a manual trigger for the XEVT-signal of the SPI? In which format has the dates be provided to match the 16 bit SPIDAT0 register.

Would be there any chance to get this work, that the EDMA controller split my 24 Bit datas into a 16 bit and 8 bit word and transfers them to the SPI interface without any CPU intervention?

Thanks,
Christian
