TMDSIDK437X: TMDSIDK437X Real Time Clock needed for Ehtercat / Profinet?

Dear all,

I would like to trim down the TMDSIDK437X schemtics to use it for Profinet, Profibus, and Ethercat Communication. For the sake of simplicity, I would also like to replace the power supply as suggested in application note slvuab1a. This also implies that I would not implement the real time clock. Now, my question is: Is the real time clock needed for the operation of Profinet, Profibus, and Ethercat? If not, what is it needed for? Or how would I find out if I am (accidentally) using it.
