Linux/BEAGLEBN: BBONEGRNW

I have made several unsuccessful attempts to activate SPI1 (config-pin 9.28 spi_cs for example) on a Beaglebone Green Wireless(BBGW). My implementation of the most recent solution suggested by RoberCNelson on his response to a similar issue(link below) causes the wireless feature of my BBGW to stop working. Then I need to re-load the image to the eMMC because I am unable to reestablish connection to the BBGW.

I am able to configure and access SPI0 without any problems.

I will appreciate any additional suggestions to solve this issue.
