I am investigating upgrading a design in progress from an OMAP-L137 to an OMAP-L138.
I noticed that the two 32 bit Enhanced Quadrature Encoder functions present in the OMAP-L137 are not in the OMAP-L138. Why was this omitted in the L138? Is there another function that could be used to capture encoder inputs, like eCAP etc. Or was it a marketing decision based on its potential use?
When I generated the comparison spreadsheet between the OMAP-L137 and OMAP-L138 a column was not generated for the eQEP. I found that the eQEP was not present by looking at the block diagrams for the two parts. Why was this omitted from the spreadsheet? This appears to be the only feature dropped going from the L137 to the L138.
